Thoughts for food
I've been thinking a lot about food lately, mostly because of:
- I've been put on high blood pressure medication, so now have to think about what I eat but
- Over the last year, as I started my 'fitness journey' (which has actually been pretty good. I joined a Crossfit-like gym near my place in June 2023, where I go three times a week to do lifting and cardio/ HIIT in a group setting, and it's been good to have a routine and get activity in. And lifting is awesome. Though I'm not losing much weight, which brings me back to food), I discovered that I'm not eating enough protein. So last year I was trying to eat more meat. But then my cholesterol, while improving because of more exercise, stayed bad
- And also, the other day, while chatting with some coworkers who were in town, I mentioned that I liked cooking, one of them asked me 'what's your go-to recipe?' and realized I didn't have an answer
So now I have to find a go-to recipe that has a lot of protein but also not a lot of salt or fat? Does this mean I have to eat a lot of salmon? If I am consigned to a lifetime of unseasoned chicken breasts I might as well just not bother.
Anyway, I thought this update would be more substantial. But I did just pay for this platform so that's some level of commitment.
Other rapid fire thought dump
